I just came about a blog like this. I am one of his students in the 1979-1982 batch. He was an extremeky nice person. thanks to his encouragement I won a prize in a symposium on water pollution. May his soul rest in place
Many stories abound about NSG and his antics but all said and done he was a true humanist and loved life. I remember being in his class in BSc once and he would cheer us up by disctibuting small trinkets if we answer his questions. He had a fundamental grasp of the subject and relished in making his students understand it. A great man.

NSG was a man beyond the marvelling capabilities of the normal human mind.
Thanks to his encouragement I went on to win the intercollegiate symposium in 1990, secured 100% marks in Msc Inorg Chemistry test etc.,
I relish those quiet moments I (was lucky) got to spend in his lab helping him with petty jobs.
He will continue to live in the life every Loyolite that met him,
- with fond memories, Jacob
