Loyola bags Rs. 1.4 crore in research funds...
Loyola secured Rs. 1.4 crore in research income for the year 2005-2006. A total of Rs. 13967194 was given to the faculty through various research grants. A whopping Rs. 95 lakhs went to the Department of Chemistry this year. A FIST grant to the tune of Rs. 34 lakhs will provide new instrumentation facilities at the department. Prof. KS Nagaraja added two research projects from DAE and DST to the tune of Rs. 38 lakhs. Prof. V Alexander continued his grant-hunting and secured Rs. 23 lakhs.

Benefactors shoulder Loyola...
Loyola has received some significant donations this year. Ms. Renuka Iswariah has donated Rs. 50 lakhs for the new Physics Building. Mr Kalanidhi Maran of the SUN TV has donated Rs. 3 lakhs for the improvement of Loyola College Library through his SUN Foundation. A further donation of Rs. 2.5 lakhs came through various sources. Dr. T.N. Ananthakrishnan Research Award for Arts Teachers for the academic year 2005-06 is presented to Dr. D. Lazar, Dept. of Commerce. Rev. Fr. L. Yeddanapalli, SJ Research Award for Science Teachers for the academic year 2005-06 is presented to Dr. P. Sagayaraj, Dept. of Physics. Rev. Fr. Racine, SJ Research Award is given to Prof. T. Pathinathan and Ms. M. Chris Monica, Dept. of Mathematics. The ‘Good Samaritan Award’ (given to the most deserving person who helps others at the time of their need) goes to Tony Prakash, ( 05-PH-47) of I Year B.Sc. Physics.
