Dr S. Samikannu (SSK) passes away from cancer

Dr S. Samikannu, Professor of Chemistry, passed away on 19th Sep after battling cancer. He had died while Rev. Fr Peter (Secretary, Loyola College) was praying at his bedside. Dr SSK will be fondly remembered for his articulate teaching of electrochemistry. May the good Lord grant eternal rest to him.

His articulate teaching and his grasp of the subject is known to anyone who sat in his classes but an even greater loss is that the student community has lost a wonderful gentleman who was patient, understanding and approachable! May the good Lord grant him eternal peace!!

Very sorry to know that Dr. Samikannu has passed away fighting cancer. I remember him as a good Inorganic Chemistry teacher, who was eager to help students in anyway he can. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

His way of teaching of electrochemistry attracted me so much... I could not forget those nice days that we had in our M.Sc Class during the year 2004-2006... His acheivements will remain in our loyala cmpus forever.. THIS IS REALLY AN UNBEARABLE TO ME...

Dr.Samikannu was a true gentleman. I studied electrochemistry under him in the 95-97 MSc batch. He was a kind and gentle soul. I remember the surprise in his face when our batch arranged a congratulatory get-together for him on his successful completion of his PhD. I remember he valued education so much he even encouraged his wife to come back t ocollege and she studied MPhil ( if Iam not mistaken) at the Zoology dept. Really a gentleman. Loyola will miss him.
